Freedom's Wings Canada conducts regular flight operations from the Gatineau Gliding Club (GGC) throughout the 2010 gliding season (April through to October or November depending on weather).
This program of inspirational fights for the physically disabled has been run in a series of annual, one-week events over the past five years, and now it will be possible for people with disabilities to experience the joys of silent inspirational flights throughout the summer in the Ottawa area.
Freedom’s Wings Canada, in partnership with the Gatineau Gliding Club, will be launching its Inspirational Flights 2010 flying program on Thursday, July 1, as part of the Canadian Aviation & Space Museum Canada Aviation & Space Museum Canada Day celebration. This inaugural demonstration flight will be accompanied by an outdoor performance of select songs from Canadian singer-songwriter Justin Hines on the grounds of the Canada Aviation and Space Museum. Afterwards, Mr. Hines will take to the skies from the grounds of the Rockcliffe Airport as a passenger aboard a specially adapted glider. This special performance and inaugural flight is set to begin at 1:30 p.m. Freedom’s Wings Canada provides people with physical disabilities the opportunity to experience the joy of silent flight in a glider. The program will be available on a weekly basis throughout the year until the fall season.
