The Eastern Instructor course this year will take place from August 4 to 8 here at GGC, led by Richard Sawyer, a senior instructor at York Soaring.
This is an opportunity for members who wish to upgrade their piloting skills and to take on the joys and responsibility of instructing. The minimum qualification to take the course is a glider license plus 100 solo flights and 20 hours P1.You can download the syllabus here. Other course materials will be provided after you sign up. Candidates ideally will do some preparatory flying with the CFI to get them started on instructing, to be comfortable demonstrating the first lessons, and getting to know the patter. There will be an exam on Part A of the Soaring Instruction Manual at the start of the course, and the second part of the exam will be at the end.
Applicants must complete the application form and mail it, with a check for $165 payable to Soaring Association of Canada, as soon as possible to me at the address below.
If you are interested and would like to find out more I invite you to contact me, or Richard Sawyer directly by email at cfzcw@sympatico.ca
